Senior Coverage Banker: Public Sector

Own and actively manage relationships with a Pan-African portfolio of public sector clients – SOEs, municipalities, provincial governments, utilities and sovereign-related institutions

Develop and execute account plans aligned to sector and country strategies; grow wallet share and C-suite relationship depth

Originate and lead complex, high-value transactions across corporate and structured lending, DCM/ECM, M&A/advisory and integrated banking and treasury solutions

Deliver municipal, infrastructure and utility financing, capital raising and treasury solutions aligned to public sector objectives

Maintain accountability for revenue delivery, pipeline strength and conversion; drive cross-sell with product partners

Partner with Global, Country and Sub-Sector Heads to translate sector strategy into client-level execution plans and contribute thought leadership

Lead end-to-end deal execution, coordinating multi-product teams and ensuring high-quality pitch materials, proposals and transaction documentation

Ensure client activity aligns with risk appetite, credit standards and regulation; review credit proposals and monitor portfolio early-warning indicators

Mentor and coach Coverage Bankers and Analysts and foster a high-performance, client-centric culture

Postgraduate degree in Business, Finance, Economics or a related field (Master’s/postgraduate professional qualification preferred)

12–18+ years’ experience in corporate and/or investment banking

Proven track record managing senior client relationships and delivering revenue growth in the public sector arena

Demonstrated experience leading complex, multi-product transactions within sector-led or matrix coverage models

Deep public sector expertise: PFMA and MFMA, municipal finance, public procurement, sovereign risk, SOE governance and infrastructure funding
