Principal Engineer (AI Platform)
Job Overview
Serve as a senior individual technical contributor for a UK-based gaming, leisure and entertainment group’s Cape Town site. Build and own AI-assisted engineering harnesses (agent scaffolding, retrieval layers, evaluation/guardrails, telemetry); enable AI adoption across delivery stacks; set AI-assisted engineering standards; mentor senior/lead engineers without line management.
Required Qualifications
Master’s or Bachelor’s in Computer Science or related; 10+ years software engineering with senior/staff-plus delivery; ownership of platform/tooling/DX systems; practical shipped AI/ML applied to engineering workflows; production depth in at least two of Java, .NET, React, Flutter; cloud-native AWS, microservices, event-driven systems, CI/CD; LLM/agentic/retrieval experience; regulated consumer domain advantageous.
