Job Overview

Empact Group, a contract catering, food services and facilities business, is appointing a Financial Manager in Sandton, Johannesburg (Careers24 2396547; posted 29 October 2026; apply before 19 November 2026). The successful candidate serves as a trusted financial business partner to the Group’s General Managers, Operations teams and Functional Heads – providing strategic financial insight, commercial decision support and proactive recommendations to improve profitability, manage costs and enhance performance.

This is a hands-on finance leadership role combining technical accounting with commercial acumen: overseeing monthly financial reviews and IFRS reporting, unit and regional profitability analysis, budgeting and forecasting, turnaround plans for underperforming units, contract billing, cash flow and credit control, fixed assets and capex, audit queries and financial controls, while leading the billing, accounts receivable and financial administration teams.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee monthly financial reviews; analyse gross margins and unit/regional profitability and identify variances and opportunities
Prepare and review management reports, journals and balance sheet reconciliations in line with IFRS and deadlines
Develop and monitor turnaround plans for underperforming units and cost pressures
Lead budgeting, forecasting and financial modelling; support capex planning and investment assessments
Ensure accurate contract billing; monitor cash flow, working capital and liquidity
Drive credit control and collections to achieve debtor-day targets
Oversee fixed asset registers, capex, stock transfers and purchase compliance; coordinate audit queries
Act as financial partner to GMs, Operations, Sales and Procurement on contracts, pricing and profitability
Lead and develop the billing, accounts receivable and financial administration teams

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field (or 12+ years’ relevant experience)
Minimum 4 years’ financial management experience, preferably in catering, food services, hospitality or related
Strong IFRS, budgeting, forecasting, management accounting and cost-control knowledge
Experience in cash flow, credit control, financial controls, reconciliations and audits
CA(SA) or CIMA advantageous; SAP or comparable ERP experience; multi-site operations exposure
Advanced Excel and financial modelling; experience managing finance teams
