Job Overview

Fides Recruitment is recruiting a Business Development Manager (Asset Management) based in Pretoria for asset manager Cogence (CareerJunction 2646753; R100,000–R120,000 per month plus commission; posted 29 October 2026; listing valid to 2 December 2026). The role aims to grow flows into Cogence’s portfolios among independent financial advisers who write business on external platforms, positioning Cogence as the ‘go-to’ investment option for their clients.

The BDM increases net inflows among large, mid-tier and small IFAs, builds strong relationships across IFAs, Fund of Funds, Private Wealth and tied-agency brokers, implements the external platform sales strategy, and technically positions local and offshore model portfolios and unit trust funds – influencing and negotiating across divisions and with external partners.

Key Responsibilities

Increase net inflows among independent financial advisers (large, mid-tier and small) writing on external platforms
Build and deepen relationships with IFAs, Fund of Funds, Private Wealth and tied-agency brokers through structured activity
Implement the external platform sales strategy (Cogence)
Technically position local and offshore model portfolios and unit trust funds
Leverage an existing network of 50+ IFAs to grow market share in the region
Influence and negotiate across internal divisions and with external partners

Required Qualifications

Finance/Commerce degree at least at Honours level (or equivalent with strong retail asset management technical knowledge)
Minimum 5 years’ sales experience in the asset management industry
Established relationships with at least 50 IFAs in the region (no tied agents) – essential
Strong network across IFAs, Fund of Funds, Private Wealth and tied brokers
Technical positioning and selling of model portfolios and unit trusts; proven performance track record
