Senior Supply Chain Program Manager, Global Procurement Launch & Expansion
Job Overview
Amazon's Global Procurement Launch and Expansion (GPLE) team manages the flow of materials to new or expanding sites by monitoring and mitigating supply risks. This is GPLE's first role in South Africa, so you will play a foundational part in shaping how Amazon launches sites in the country—owning the end-to-end procurement lifecycle from sourcing through project management and building a scalable, locally adapted model from the ground up.
As Senior Supply Chain Program Manager you will work with functional partners to ensure items and equipment are ordered and delivered to sites just in time, while creating, reviewing and continuously improving processes. GPLE sits within Global Procurement Operations and enables on-time launches, expansions and retrofits by ensuring non-inventory materials are planned, ordered and delivered in full and services are mobilised on time—across high ambiguity and many stakeholder organisations.
Listed for Waterfall City (Midrand) and Cape Town; ideal for a data-driven program leader with deep supply chain experience who can own strategy, delivery and senior-leadership communication.
Key Responsibilities
• Be accountable for mitigating risks and escalations to meet launch program timelines for new site launches and network expansions
• Serve as the interface between vendors, procurement and the business to track, monitor and control procurement project plans
• Optimise the supply chain through deep dives, identifying processes and tools that reduce manual effort, optimise costs and improve data visibility
• Plan and execute continuous improvement initiatives across the region via best practices, standardised project execution and governance
• Collaborate with suppliers and establish monitoring processes to ensure timely deliveries and quality compliance
• Manage multiple competing projects and priorities simultaneously
• Build South Africa's first GPLE operating model from the ground up
Required Qualifications
• 5+ years of program or project management experience
• 5+ years of supply chain experience
• Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
• Experience owning program strategy and end-to-end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership
• Preferred: 2+ years driving process improvements
• Preferred: Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, operations, engineering, analytics or a related field
