Job Overview

Recruitpro Solutions is recruiting, on behalf of a professional engineering client in Pretoria East, a highly experienced Senior Electrical Engineer for a combined technical and managerial role. You will lead the planning, coordination and delivery of complex electrical designs within multidisciplinary projects, in full compliance with legislation, standards and client requirements. On the management side you will run the electrical engineering department — leading the design team, ensuring quality and safety systems are followed, and keeping projects on time, in scope and commercially viable. Technically, you will review, approve and sign off detailed MV and LV electrical designs, prepare scopes of work, specifications, BoQs and tender documents, and manage commissioning. The role suits a registered Professional Engineer with deep expertise in industrial plant and mining electrical design, MCC design to IEC 61439, SANS standards, PLC/SCADA and tools such as ETAP.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and control the electrical engineering department and lead the electrical design team.
Ensure projects comply with quality systems, safety standards and best engineering practice; deliver on time and within scope.
Review, approve and sign off detailed electrical designs; complete and review MV and LV designs.
Drive continuous improvement of designs for cost-effective, safe implementation.
Prepare scopes of work, technical specifications, bills of quantities and tender documentation.
Compile technical data packs for manufacturing and software engineering phases.
Conduct site audits of client infrastructure and prepare compliance and advisory reports.
Prepare commissioning procedures and manage commissioning; mentor engineers and draughtspersons.
Identify, report and mitigate project risks to executive management.

Required Qualifications

BEng in Electrical Engineering.
Professional Engineer registration.
Strong exposure to industrial plant and mining-related electrical design.
In-depth knowledge of SANS standards and electrical legislation; MV and LV systems.
MCC design and IEC 61439 compliance; heat-rise calculations, equipment selection and layout design.
Knowledge of PLC and SCADA systems and international E&I standards; ETAP or similar software.
