Senior DevOps / SRE Cloud Engineer – Azure & Kubernetes
Job Overview
Tumaini Consulting's client in Durban is seeking a highly experienced Senior DevOps / SRE Cloud Engineer to take ownership of a production Azure and Kubernetes environment. This is a hands-on platform role for a specialist who thrives on building resilient infrastructure, strengthening deployment processes and driving reliability across cloud workloads.
You will run production Kubernetes on AKS (Helm, operators, node-pool design, resource management, upgrades), manage modular multi-environment infrastructure-as-code with Terraform, maintain GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines, and own observability through Prometheus, Grafana, SLOs, alerting and structured logging—alongside secure secrets management across Azure services such as ADLS Gen2, Key Vault, Entra ID and Azure networking.
Permanent role paying R62,500–R91,000 per month, suited to an engineer with 5+ years in DevOps, SRE or platform engineering and 2–3 years operating Kubernetes in production.
Key Responsibilities
• Own and operate the production Azure and Kubernetes (AKS) environment end to end
• Design node pools, manage resources, troubleshoot and upgrade production Kubernetes using Helm and operators
• Build and maintain modular Terraform infrastructure-as-code with multi-environment state management
• Build and maintain GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines to strengthen deployment processes
• Drive reliability through Prometheus/Grafana monitoring, SLOs, alerting and structured logging
• Tune Docker image builds, Compose setups and container resources
• Apply secure secrets-management practices across Key Vault, Entra ID and Azure networking
Required Qualifications
• 5+ years' experience in DevOps, SRE or platform engineering
• 2–3 years operating Kubernetes workloads in production (Helm, operators, node pools, upgrades)
• 2+ years hands-on Azure: AKS, ADLS Gen2, Key Vault, Entra ID and Azure networking
• Strong Terraform experience with modular IaC and multi-environment state
• Solid Docker experience and proven GitHub Actions CI/CD experience
• Strong knowledge of Prometheus, Grafana, SLOs, alerting and structured logging
• Strong Linux and Bash scripting skills; secure secrets-management experience
