Job Overview

Discovery Insure — South Africa's fastest-growing short-term insurer and home of the award-winning Vitality Drive programme, now scaled to Europe and the Middle East — is hiring a Project Manager (Senior) in its Programme & Project Management (Technical) function at 1 Discovery Place, Sandton.

You will take accountability to lead, organise, plan and control multiple technical IT projects so that goals and objectives are achieved within scope, time and budget, and that value is delivered to the department. The role runs scoping and planning workshops, manages risks, issues and scope change, develops and manages budgets, mentors project teams and drives benefits realisation across business units and partners.

Suited to a delivery-focused project manager with agile and design-thinking experience who uses AI tools for project management and understands insurance products and IT methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and participate in scoping and planning workshops; maintain Scope of Work and project plans

• Deliver project deliverables and milestones within agreed time, cost and quality

• Manage issues, project risks and scope change control across multiple projects

• Coordinate meetings, compile status reports and manage the quality of project output

• Develop and manage budgets and drive project benefits realisation

• Mentor and guide project teams; lead virtual teams of internal or external resources

• Work with partners and different business units, reaching across the company network to remove impediments

• Adhere to prescribed project management standards, templates and code of conduct

Required Qualifications

• Matric (Grade 12) with Mathematics

• Project Management qualification (Diploma or Certificate)

• Minimum 2–4 years in a project management environment and 1–3 years running IT projects

• Minimum 1–2 years rolling out change management to business

• Proven record managing multiple projects simultaneously

• Agile method experience, design thinking and use of AI tools for project management

• Sound understanding of insurance products/processes and IT processes and methodologies
