Procurement Manager (Senior); Marketing
Job Overview
Discovery Group Procurement (centre-led) seeks a Senior Procurement Manager for Marketing, reporting to the Group Chief Procurement Officer, with one buyer reporting in. The role implements sourcing strategies for marketing products and services to drive savings, inclusive/preferential procurement and strong governance while partnering marketing stakeholders on cost efficiency and behavioural change.
Group Procurement’s strategic objectives—optimising cost efficiency, supplier partnering for shared value, and transformation through preferential procurement—underpin the mandate, alongside good governance and corporate citizenship.
Key Responsibilities
Identify, evaluate and select marketing suppliers (media agencies, content creators, event/activation vendors) with stakeholders; increase Spend Under Procurement Management (target above 80%) to reduce maverick spend. Attend marketing EXCO and selected events to align procurement with marketing needs. Lead end-to-end cross-functional RFx; negotiate contracts, pricing and SLAs per Procurement Policy; and expand contract coverage.
Run strategic supplier QBRs and SLAs with remedies for underperformance. Conduct market research and spend analysis to surface savings; record and validate savings in the register. Advance B-BBEE supplier development (including EME/QSE onboarding) and ensure brand, quality and regulatory compliance. Collaborate with marketing, legal and finance; develop marketing category strategies and buying guides/SOPs for self-service channels; review planned orders; support transactional matching/receipting; and build supplier catalogues where useful. Report on procurement performance, supplier relationships and spend trends.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s in Business Administration, Marketing, Supply Chain Management or related; CIPS qualified or studying toward MCIPS. Proven procurement/supply-chain experience with strong marketing-category understanding, demonstrated marketing sourcing strategies, RFx/tender capability, and the ability to operate independently under pressure with senior stakeholders.
