National Distribution Manager
Job Overview
A leading plastics manufacturing and food packaging company is looking for an experienced National Distribution Manager to join its team in Olifantsfontein, Gauteng. The role oversees national warehousing and distribution operations across multiple locations and sets the strategic plan for the warehouse and distribution network.
You will standardise operations through SOPs, put robust inventory controls in place (including FIFO, stock takes and reconciliations), coordinate third-party logistics providers, negotiate supplier and service-provider contracts, and oversee fleet management and maintenance, quality control and operational audits.
This is a people-leadership role: you will lead, mentor and develop warehouse and distribution teams, set departmental objectives and KPIs, and build a culture of continuous improvement and engagement, while supervising facilities management and housekeeping.
Key Responsibilities
• Oversee national warehousing and distribution operations across multiple locations
• Develop and implement strategic plans for warehouse operations and distribution networks
• Develop and implement standardised operating procedures across warehouse locations
• Implement robust inventory control systems including FIFO; conduct regular stock takes and reconciliations
• Coordinate third-party logistics providers for timely, cost-effective delivery
• Negotiate contracts with suppliers and service providers; oversee fleet management and maintenance
• Implement quality control processes and conduct regular audits and inspections to mitigate risk
• Lead, mentor and develop teams; set departmental objectives and KPIs and review performance
Required Qualifications
• Strong experience in national warehouse and distribution operations
• Experience in strategic warehouse and distribution network planning
• Experience implementing and maintaining SOPs and inventory control systems; knowledge of stock management and FIFO
• Experience coordinating third-party logistics providers and negotiating supplier contracts
• Experience in fleet management and maintenance, quality control and operational audits
• Proven ability to lead, mentor and develop warehouse and distribution teams and manage KPIs
