Job Overview

Absa is hiring a Lead Solutions Architect at Absa 270 Republic Road, Randburg, Johannesburg (requisition R-15991900; full time; posted 19 October 2026, closing 26 October 2026). The role drives the design and delivery of complex, fit-for-purpose, strategy-aligned, high-impact cross-domain technology solution blueprints and associated solutions, and builds architectural capability in development teams across an estate.

Working embedded in delivery teams, the Lead Solutions Architect frames complex business problems, leads design-thinking processes, creates end-to-end solution blueprints and roadmaps from ideation to commercialisation, and applies a strong engineering background — domain-driven design, loosely coupled integration and microservices — to choose the right tools. The role presents designs and business cases at Group architecture forums, carries one-stop-shop accountability for solution-design risk and regulatory alignment, and coaches teams in agile practices.

Key Responsibilities

Identify, design and deliver scalable, testable, reusable technology solutions aligned to organisational strategy
Analyse customer requirements and business capabilities with delivery teams to frame complex business problems
Lead design-thinking processes and create end-to-end solution blueprints and roadmaps
Design or contribute to feasibilities and business cases
Apply domain-driven design, loosely coupled integration and microservices to make sound design choices
Conduct solution reviews, code reviews and testing as part of embedded delivery teams
Present solution designs and business cases at Group and business architecture forums
Own solution-design risk, apply governance frameworks and ensure regulatory alignment
Build architectural capability across delivery teams through coaching and knowledge sharing
Embed agile practices and contribute to the architecture body of knowledge and principles

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology
Strong engineering background in modern software design (domain-driven design, microservices, loosely coupled integration)
Experience designing complex cross-domain solution blueprints from ideation through launch
Strong negotiation skills for complex and divergent stakeholder views
Knowledge of risk, governance and regulatory requirements for solution design
