Head of Training: Sales and Distribution Learning
Job Overview
Discovery is appointing a Head of Training: Sales and Distribution Learning (Divisional Manager) within the Discovery Institute of Training at Discovery Place, Sandton. You will set the strategic direction for sales and distribution learning, translating product, financial-planning, sales-capability and distribution priorities into high-impact, scalable and measurable learning solutions.
The portfolio spans core training delivery, the Distribution Academy, a Sales Management Consultancy capability and the Adviser Graduate Channel. You will lead the Training Manager, portfolio leads and facilitators as one integrated function — owning the operating model, delivery roadmap, quality standards, governance and reporting — and partner with distribution executives, sales leaders and product houses on adviser capability and sales performance.
Suited to a senior learning and sales-enablement leader from a complex financial-services environment who has managed managers, built academies or graduate pipelines, and championed blended, digital and AI-enabled learning.
Key Responsibilities
Define and lead the end-to-end Sales and Distribution learning strategy and multi-year capability roadmap
Lead the Training function's operating model, structure, workforce planning, performance standards and succession pipeline
Own the strategic direction, governance and performance of the Distribution Academy
Establish and lead a Sales Management Consultancy that diagnoses performance gaps and shapes solutions beyond training
Provide strategic oversight of the Adviser Graduate Channel, from attraction to productivity
Own the consolidated annual and quarterly delivery roadmap, prioritisation, capacity and risk management
Set standards for facilitation, coaching, assessment and learning quality; sponsor simulations, digital and AI-enabled learning
Chair an integrated governance framework; ensure audit readiness of learning records and regulatory training
Own MI and reporting that links learning investment to capability, sales performance and client outcomes
Required Qualifications
Relevant degree and/or postgraduate qualification in L&D, business, commerce, financial planning, education, HR or organisational development
Extensive senior-level experience leading a training, sales-enablement, product, financial-planning or distribution learning function in complex financial services
Proven experience managing managers and/or senior specialists, including structure, performance, coaching and capacity planning
Strong understanding of learning strategy, facilitated delivery models, adult-learning principles, LMS-enabled learning, evaluation and governance
Demonstrated ability to partner with senior management and translate strategy into measurable learning outcomes
Excellent strategic planning, stakeholder management, people leadership, facilitation and analytical skills
