Job Overview

Boardroom Appointments is recruiting a Head of Human Capital in Johannesburg for a growing organisation in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment. You will lead and evolve the people function while driving a high-performance culture aligned to business objectives.

This commercially minded HC leadership role balances strategy with hands-on execution—organisational design, workforce and succession planning, talent acquisition, performance and leadership development, EE/Skills/B-BBEE and payroll governance, plus people analytics for executive decisions.

Suited to HR leaders with 10+ years’ progressive Human Capital experience and at least 5 years in senior leadership; FMCG, manufacturing, or similar operational exposure is advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement the Human Capital strategy aligned to business objectives

Partner with executive leadership on strategic people advice and key business decisions

Lead organisational design, workforce planning, and succession planning

Implement talent acquisition, performance management, leadership development, and retention strategies

Drive OD and change-management initiatives that improve business effectiveness

Champion employee engagement, DEI, and wellbeing

Ensure labour-law compliance, HC governance, and statutory reporting

Oversee payroll governance and EE, Skills Development, and B-BBEE compliance

Build HR reporting and people analytics for decision support

Lead, mentor, and develop the Human Capital team

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management or related field

Honours or Master’s advantageous; SABPP/HPCSA or similar registration advantageous

Minimum 10 years’ progressive Human Capital experience

At least 5 years in a senior leadership role

Proven people-strategy development aligned to business objectives

Strong OD, talent management, workforce planning, and leadership-development experience

Sound knowledge of SA labour legislation and HC governance

FMCG, manufacturing, or similar operational environment experience advantageous
