Construction Manager, Construction Team
Job Overview
Amazon is hiring a Construction Manager in Cape Town as a key part of its Engineering Team (job 10390780), responsible for project and construction management of industrial development — new builds, retrofits, expansions and programme initiatives from site selection through contract execution — across Fulfillment Centers, Sortation Centers, Delivery Stations, Quick Commerce stores and auxiliary buildings.

Project-manage new Fulfillment Center construction across the AMET region plus renovations and capacity improvements
Advise on the impact of schedule, cost and permitting changes
Support construction scope review with internal technical teams and operational customers

Negotiate contracts and contract changes with developers and general contractors
Provide overall site management, coordination, planning and subcontractor coordination
Assess project KPIs for safety, quality, cost, schedule and sustainability
Review designs and ongoing construction for conformance with building specifications; identify value-engineering opportunities
Review cost and time change requests and guide internal change requests
Lead or assist negotiations with regulators and Authorities Having Jurisdiction
Partner on turnover of base-building management and documentation
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (or related)
2+ years of project execution/supervision, real estate development or architecture/design experience
Preferred: Master’s degree in engineering or equivalent
Preferred: additional languages (e.g. French, German, Polish, Arabic, Portuguese, Turkish, Mandarin, Afrikaans, Zulu)
Desired: participation in a previous Amazon FC launch
Strong communication with front-line and executive managers; willingness to travel 40–60%
