Job Overview

Hire Resolve is recruiting a Chief People Officer for a prominent private healthcare group in Johannesburg (hybrid). Reporting to the CEO and sitting on EXCO, the CPO provides executive leadership of the HR function—aligning people strategy with long-term organisational objectives while ensuring strict adherence to regulatory and legal parameters.

The mandate covers the full people agenda in a complex healthcare operating environment: talent, L&D, employee relations, manpower planning, compensation and benefits, EE/diversity, and HR budget accountability with clear impact on people and financial outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as a key EXCO member, articulating HR needs and strategic plans to the Board and executive management. Direct HR sub-functions including Talent Management, Learning & Development, Employee Relations and Manpower Planning. Anticipate long-term workforce trends so the group remains an employer of choice in private healthcare.

Maintain oversight of compensation, benefits, equal opportunity and diversity programmes in line with industry regulations. Manage the HR budget and drive people-centric initiatives that positively influence high-level financial indicators. Lead multi-disciplinary HR teams and deliver comprehensive solutions across complex organisational structures.

Required Qualifications

Postgraduate degree in HR, Business Management or related. 10+ years’ progressive HR experience including at least 5 years in senior management or executive roles; proven private-healthcare operations experience highly advantageous; demonstrable leadership of multi-disciplinary HR teams in complex structures.
