Job Overview

Tumaini Consulting is recruiting a highly experienced Chief Operating Officer for one of its top clients in the mining sector, at an operation based in the Western Cape (Careers24 reference MR2026101401; permanent; posted 20 October 2026; apply before 19 December 2026). The advertised package is R250,000 – R291,667 per month.

This is an executive operational leadership appointment for a seasoned mining leader with deep aggregates and quarrying experience. Candidates must previously have held a Mine Health and Safety Act 4.1 appointment, bring a minimum of 10 years in aggregates, quarrying or a similar environment and at least 8 years in senior leadership, and hold a degree in Mining, Civil or Industrial Engineering.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead operations at the client’s Western Cape mining operation as Chief Operating Officer

• Provide executive operational leadership across aggregates / quarrying activities

• Carry legal accountability consistent with a Mine Health and Safety Act 4.1 appointment

• Drive safe, productive and compliant mining operations

• Lead and develop senior operational leadership teams

Required Qualifications

• Matric

• Degree in Mining, Civil or Industrial Engineering

• Honours / postgraduate qualification advantageous

• Has previously held a 4.1 appointment (MHSA)

• Minimum 10 years in aggregates, quarrying or similar

• Minimum 8 years in senior leadership
